AUGUST 23 – Bridging the Gap of Communication for our Brown Community (African American, Mexican, Hispanic, Latino(a), Middle Eastern) and the Beloit Police Department

My name is Lexi Payton and I am the organizer of the Beloit Brown Community Liaison. We are a group dedicated to bridging the gap of communication for our Brown community (African American, Mexican, Hispanic, Latino(a), Middle Eastern) and the Beloit Police Department. I started this group in honor of my cousin Chelsey Payton who was killed October 3, 2020. As of August 10, 2021, no one has come forward to say who killed her, and we have not had much cooperation or communication with the Beloit Police. We will be hosting a community conversation on August 23, 2021 at 6:30pm in the community room of the Beloit Library. We will also have the event on zoom as well! Chief Sayles will be speaking about how the police department is working to tackle the increase in gun violence in Beloit, and then we will allow community members to ask questions that they may have. I have attached the flyer for our event, and attached the zoom link as well! We would love to have you all there!
Thank you!
