Even before the calamitous effort to suppress voters through a hideous gerrymander of electoral districts in Texas, Wisconsin Fair Maps Coalition (FMC) has been working an draft Legislation for and Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC), to make the redistricting process fair and apart from partisan influence.
This coming Tuesday, the FMC, League of Women Voters of Janesville, Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, and the Town Hall Coalition are bringing a community hearing on proposed legislation for an Independent Redistricting Commission in Wisconsin this Tuesday, August 12, at 5:30 at Hedberg Library. Developed by a committed group of wise and informed members of the FMC and guided by expert consultation from around the country, this IRC is an opportunity to have truly fair electoral maps at the next census. We are looking to pace the large program room at the Hedberg Library with concerned citizens who want to learn more about this IRC, ask questions, and offer input for even further improvements! As you know, we all need to work together to battle this constitutional crisis and fight authoritarianism.
As such, we are hoping that you can widely publicize the event and urge members and friends to attend.
