Immigration – Progress and Pushback

Feelings are strong about immigration in our country. The federal government has been carrying out a campaign to deport people whom they describe as criminals and those who put our safety at risk.  Advocates for refugees and asylum seekers cite statistics showing that immigrants are more law abiding than citizens. Reports have called into question how many of those detained have criminal records. And are people being targeted based on their appearance?

Through the years, immigrants have contributed to our nation through their work and the communities they build.  Many immigrants are afraid in the current social climate.  How can we support our immigrant neighbors by understanding and appreciating them?
