A Message from Linda Fair:
Dear Community Leader,
My name is Linda Fair, and I am an Academic Advisor at Blackhawk Technical College. I am reaching out today to re-introduce you to the Blackhawk Technical College MEO (Minority Excellence Organization) and provide updates on our first year as an organization. MEO at Blackhawk continues to focus on supporting our students of color. Emphasis will be placed on academic, career and professional, and personal support throughout the academic year. As an example, through this organization we are hoping to introduce our students of color to the academic support resources on campus, such as our Writing Center and Tutoring services.
Another aspect of the program is to engage our students of color within the community. Our goal is to encourage community service opportunities, professional development experiences, and community networking/support. This is where we are looking for your participation! We would like to personally invite you to participate in the MEO program. Would you be interested in volunteering as a Community Leader Mentor to our students of color? If you are unable to commit to serving as a volunteer mentor, perhaps you would like to offer our students a community service opportunity?
We are hosting an MEO Community Leaders Meet and Greet on Tuesday, September 16th , 4:00– 5:30 PM on the Blackhawk Technical College Central Campus in the Blackhawk Room.. This is where we will describe more details about the volunteer opportunities and answer your questions. Light refreshments will be served. You can RSVP by emailing me back at [email protected] or calling me at 608-757-6967. If you know others in the community who might be interested in supporting Blackhawk MEO, please feel free to forward this to them.
Thank you for your support of Blackhawk Technical College and our students of color! Let me know if you have and questions.
