YWCA 5k Pancake Run – Running for Racial Justice

A waitress refuses to serve a mixed-race couple in a popular restaurant. A store cashier automatically assumes a woman of color will purchase her groceries with food stamps.

These incidents actually happened in Rock County in the past few months. YWCA Rock County brings people of varying cultural and racial backgrounds together to discuss these issues and work toward solutions. Our advocacy work helps build bridges between people where mutual understanding and respect can blossom. Join us at the Sixth Annual YWCA 5k Pancake Run/Race for Racial Justice on Saturday, June 22nd to help support our mission and show that racism and intolerance have no place in Rock County.

With more than 400 participants last year, we’re working hard to reach our 2013 goals of surpassing 500 runners and walkers and raising $30,000 to benefit YWCA Racial Justice programming. Please take a moment to visit our site.
